The Ocean Startup Project recently launched its second Ocean Startup Challenge
The Ocean Startup Project recently launched its second Ocean Startup Challenge that will award up to $1.4 million to ocean tech startups and scaleups in 2021.
The initiative is seeking diverse entrepreneurs and innovators from rural, Indigenous and urban communities across Canada who have innovative technology or science-based solutions to ocean industry problems. The finalists will be awarded funding based on which of the three Streams they apply for (Idea- up to $25k, Growth- up to $100k, or Oceanshot- up to $200k). All finalists will be offered access to industry mentorship, learning opportunities, business support from sponsors, and more. Up to three additional awards (Valued at $25K); Impact, Women Ocean Entrepreneur, and Indigenous Ocean Entrepreneur, will also be available to applicants.
Applications for the 2021 Ocean Startup Challenge are now open until June 1. The Ocean Startup Project is encouraging more innovators to apply this year to ensure brilliant ideas are not missed. I want to emphasize the opportunity for Indigenous entrepreneurs as well and make sure that communities are aware of the funding and business support that are available.
