Within this context, we are looking for a talented, energetic, proactive, professional, creative and generally awesome person to fill our role of Graphic Designer.
Position Summary
The SOI Foundation is looking for a Graphic Designer to support communications and brand development for SOI’s projects and initiatives. Our ideal candidate is a well-rounded creative that is able to design for a variety of mediums and channels including print, web and social media. They enjoy collaborating with a small team, have the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines, are self-motivated, creative, organized and passionate about the Polar Regions, education and youth engagement. This opportunity will expose the successful candidate to a wide array of communications platforms and outreach initiatives.
The SOI Foundation’s hybrid workplace model combines both remote work (2 days) and in-person (3 days) collaboration at the Gatineau office.
Hours: 8 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
* Work on weekends and some overtime hours may be required to support expeditions, events or other time sensitive initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide branding, marketing and communications support across all departments, programs and initiatives with a particular focus on content development.
- Design promotional and educational material for expeditions, programs, campaigns, events and news. This includes print and digital material, social media, newsletters and swag.
- Provide design support for conferences, events and fundraisers for all SOI teams.
- Contribute to SOI’s social media calendar and develop content for communications campaigns, outreach and recruiting.
- Add and organize expedition content (photo and video) into a catalog library for easy reference and retrieval.
- Retrieve relevant photo, video, and audio material upon request.
- Logistical and administrative support in the lead-up to expeditions.
Skills And Qualifications:
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in graphic design, communications, marketing or a related field.
- Proficient in the use of the Adobe CC suite of programs (Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro) are required.
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills and a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop a broad range of marketing content from concept to completion including but not limited to: communications strategies, print publications, social media, and web content development.
- Strong time management and organizational skills required.
- Experience using WordPress, Meltwater and Emma is an asset.
- Experience with photo and video production is an asset.
- Bilingualism (spoken and written) is an asset. * position will mostly work in English

- Knowledge of, and experience with, the Canadian Arctic and Indigenous culture is an asset.
- An alum of the SOI Foundation is an asset.
- Outgoing, positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork.
