Position Summary

SOI is looking for an Accounting Assistant to provide support to the Finance Manager two to three days per week. Our ideal candidate has the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and is self-motivated. This opportunity will include accounts payable & receivable, timesheets, bank deposits, reconciliations, etc. 

The position will be paid based on experience and qualifications. Location is based at the SOI Foundation office in Gatineau, QC (in the Ottawa area). The Accounting Assistant will report to the Finance Manager.

Hours: 8 hours per day, 3 to 4 days per week (may be flexible or increased)

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Entering payables and receivables in Quickbooks Desktop
  • Assist the Finance Manager with keeping data entry up to date
  • Working with excel spreadsheets and timesheets
  • Compiling and inputting data for funding reports
  • Reconciling credit card statements and other tasks as needed

Character profile & key competencies

  • 2 to 5 years of Accounting experience 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel & Word
  • Experience with Quickbooks is an asset
  • Bilingualism (Spoken and written) is an asset
  • Self-starter demonstrating a strong capacity to work independently and collaboratively;
  • A quick learner
  • Organized and efficient multi-tasker with great attention to detail;
  • Outgoing, positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
