What is the Arctic Policy Cohort?

This is a unique opportunity to engage with national and international Arctic policy through a virtual workshop series in December 2024! Together, we’ll explore how Arctic Policy affects you and your community day-to-day. We’ll engage with other like-minded young people, guest speakers, organizations and a variety of intertwining topics related to decision-making in Northern Canada.

There will be three virtual Arctic policy workshops. The workshops will focus on developing a basic understanding of international Arctic governance, the different institutions and actors, their different roles, and Northern Canada’s current policy issues and developments. You’ll explore how different institutions operate and which knowledge and skills would be required to participate in decision-making spaces.

The workshop program will be a combination of presentations, facilitated group conversations, and breakout sessions. Upon completion of the workshop series, the intended outcome is that you’ll have a better understanding of Arctic policy, and are better equipped to engage with policies and decision-makers that impact your lives.

*There will be follow-up opportunities to participate in a delegation to international conferences*
