Privacy PolicyFrom October 12-20, 2024, SOI Foundation will send a delegation to Iceland to explore the intersection of Arctic policy, climate change, and the role of youth in shaping Arctic and climate policies to drive positive outcomes. This delegation will bring together five alumni delegates and three SOI staff to experience firsthand Iceland’s stunning natural landscapes, such as the Skógafoss Waterfall and Thingvellier National Park. The journey culminates at the Arctic Circle Assembly, a premier international forum for Arctic policy and cooperation with a focus on Indigenous perspectives where delegates will host a panel discussion titled Early Career & International Perspectives on Polar Science Policy Linkages.
Route / Location
This land-based expedition will begin its journey in Reykjavík and travel throughout the Capital, Southern Peninsula, and Western Region of Iceland, visiting key natural and cultural landmarks.

Over the course of eight days, delegates will explore some of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders, such as Skógafoss Waterfall, the black sand beaches, and Thingvellier National Park. The journey culminates with participation in the Arctic Circle Assembly, held at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík. Delegates will engage in panel discussions and network with policymakers, researchers, and Indigenous leaders, while bringing youth perspectives to the forefront of Arctic and climate change conversations.
