2019 Arctic Expedition: Day 15
Today we arrived at our final destination, the community of Qausuittuq (Resolute), Canada’s second northernmost community located in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut.
Here we divided into three groups. The students and staff on the first flight went to the airport while one group visited the Polar Continental Shelf Program facility and learned about its important work supporting Arctic research and field logistics. The third group toured the community of Resolute and were treated to a visit with fellow student participant, Devon Manik’s sled dogs! And capture some very cute pictures (see below)
One by one, each of the three planes departed Resolute, stopping in Iqaluit to bid farewell to many of our northern students and staff, before continuing on to Ottawa.
It was a long journey and students arrived tired but happy to be together for one final night in Ottawa before departing for their home communities.
